To overcome the increasing congestion because of MRT construction, we form special team named Congestion Breaking Down Taskforce. Each team consists of 20 personnel who will work in two shifts during admission and leaving working hours,” stated City Police Traffic Directorate Operational Division Chief AKBP Budiyanto, Monday (5/12).

According to Budiyanto, those personnel will be placed in bottle neck points, especially in MRT station construction points that need bigger spaces.

Basuki: MRT Project will Not Be Canceled

“From previously five to three lanes used, now only three to one lane can be used. While on Jalan Fatmawati Raya near Haji Nawi intersection from MH Thamrin towards Sudirman direction, two lanes are closed for MRT station construction,” he informed.

Budiyanto urges the residents to always look for traffic information, especially on traffic along the roads affected by MRT construction.

“Always monitor TMC, because all location updates will be announced on social media such as twitter and facebook. If the traffic was overload, we will prepare alternative routes,” he told.

Meanwhile, City Police Public Relations Division Chief Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said that the police have coordinated with Jakarta Provincial Government to resolve traffic congestion caused by MRT construction.

“We have coordinated with Jakarta Transportation Department and the others. Hopefully there would be no problem, because we will also continuously sterilize TransJakarta bus lanes,” he uttered.
